The Vascular Quality Initiative one year mortality after carotid endarterectomy was developed from a cohort of over 19,000 patients who underwent carotid endatrectomy and predicts the risk of death in one year. This risk model has been internally validated and externally validated in a cohort of 5,000 patients.
