Until recently, Canadian BlackBerry users have been forced to pay much high rates for data plans than users in the US. This certainly limited access to medical software that required large and/or frequent downloads from the internet. While rates are still higher than in the US, Rogers has just released new data rates. Have a look at their site for details – take note that there are now reasonable plans that offer 300 MB per month of data. If you are a Canadian physician with a Rogers BlackBerry, give Rogers customer service a call to see about modifying your plan. Many physicians have changed plans and are now getting much larger data allowances for lower prices than they had previously been paying. Telus does not seem to have modified their rate plans yet, but perhaps we will see this change soon.
