KEY ASSESSMENTS
Inflow obstruction may be due to:
- Mechanical blockage such as clamps or kinks in transfer set or catheter including segment under the dressing
- Postimplantation blood clot or fibrin
- Fibrin, particularly with peritonitis
Outflow obstruction may be due to:
- Mechanical blockage of transfer set or catheter
- Postimplantation blood clot or fibrin
- Fibrin, particularly with peritonitis
- Constipation
- Extrinsic bladder compression due to urinary retention
- Catheter tip migration out of pelvis
- Catheter entrapment
